Dictionaries and registries
The services below are to some extent similar to those proposed for
the catalogues.
- The data dictionaries and registries can be :
- International ones (Edifact, TDED, ebXML...)
- Sectorial ones (SWIFT for the banking
environment, water data, building data, social data...)
- Dictionaries or registries of company or
administration
- The considered registries can be:
- registries of process (internal or of exchanged
between actor)
- registries of objects or attributes used in modelling:
- context
- role
- behaviour
- event
- constraint...
Creation of dictionary or registry
- starting from a paper source
- and/or of multiple electronic sources
- analysis of these files (use of BSR
semantic tool)
- comparison of these files
- harmonization, improvement, coding
- structuring and concatenation.
Comparison of dictionaries or registries, (use of BSR
semantic
tool)
- Mapping of dictionaries or registries
- For each entry of a dictionary or a registry, list of entries
of the other dictionaries or registries having the same significance or an
approximate significance (and not simply entries having the same
code or the same name).
- Of course certain entries can not have any
corresponding entry in the other dictionaries or registries.
Comparison between dictionaries or registries
and a
standardized or " dominating " reference (use of BSR
semantic
tool)
- EDIFACT, customs data WCO, " core
component " ebXML...
- sectoral reference
- reference of a data-processing tool (example ERP)
- or of a major customer...
Improvement of dictionaries or registries (use of BSR
semantic
tool)
- analysis to remove any duplication (and/or to clarify
the synonyms)
- not simply entries having the same code or the
same name (search for identical character strings)
- but also those having the same significance or
a close one
- improvement of the entries description
- truncated words
- abbreviations
- acronyms...
- "self explanatory"...
- structuring of the dictionary
- creation of a hierarchy (families,
subfamilies...) and classification of the entries (for example by
mapping with the classes and attributes of a data model)
- " XMLisation " of the catalogue
- total or partial
- extraction, in XML, of components...
- total or limited
- extraction, in XML, of catalogue components...
Multilingual access to the dictionaries or registries in natural language (BSR
semantic
tool)
- The accesses to the catalogues are generally done by:
- key word (in the language of the dictionary or
registry)
- and/or advance in a tree structure (family,
subfamily...)
- A complete alternative (or simply a complementary
possibility) is the interrogation of the dictionaries or registries in
"English or French
natural language "
- the user expresses his research by words or by
a sentence, the BSR tool indicates the entries "semantically
close" to the question
- not only entries having the same character
strings
- but also entries having the same significance
or a close significance (classified by descending order)
- the question can be put in a language
different from the dictionary or registry one (in French for English
dictionaries or registries, or in English to question French ones)
Dictionary or registry management
- Use of the BSR tool for the creation or the
modification of entries:
- to avoid the duplication and to manage the synonyms
- proposal for a positioning of the new entry (or the
modified entry) in the existing tree structure or the existing model
- mapping of the new entry with external
dictionaries or registries
