The BSR semantic
tool description
Tool BSR is used for ACTIMUM services for organizations,
administrations and private companies. These services mainly relate to Catalogues,
dictionaries and registries,
and knowledge management
The heart of the BSR semantic tool consists of a semantic engine (LINGWAY
technology).
- This engine allows complex linguistic research
(linguistic cf research) (cf. linguistics).
- It is based on an internal linguistic network, built
on English and French languages.
The BSR semantic tool operates as follows:
- Stage 1: A whole set (for example the data
dictionaries entries) are indexed and integrated into the tool
- i.e. that each entry of the set " is
linked " to one or more nodes of the internal linguistic
network.
- Stage 2: When a user puts a question (in French or
English)
- its question is analyzed to extract the
concepts which are contained there
- the tool establishes the link between these
concepts and certain nodes of its internal linguistic network
- these nodes being linked to entries of the
data dictionaries (cf stage 1), the tool posts, in answer to the
question, the found dictionaries entries
- to find the other entries of the dictionary,
further away from the question but presenting a semantic link, the
tool considers, in its internal linguistic network, the nodes
close to the first selected nodes, it then posts the entries of
the dictionary which are linked to these new nodes
- a " semantic distance " is
calculated. The calculation is based on the length of the path
within the the linguistic network.
This operation is described on the web site of ISO use of the BSR
semantic tool, managed by ACTIMUM.
The BSR semantic tool can be supplemented by other modules to enrich its functionalities. (Such as the
"
full text " indexing for knowledge management).
